SAT Requirements
Southern Illinois University Carbondale requires SAT scores for admission consideration. While the university does not guarantee SAT scores as the sole determinant of admission, they play a significant role in the overall evaluation. SAT scores are one of several factors, including GPA, extracurricular activities, essays, and recommendation letters. The university does not consider the optional SAT Writing section for admission purposes, focusing instead on the math and reading sections. A strong SAT score, combined with a well-rounded application, can significantly enhance your chances of admission. Students who score exceptionally well on the SAT may be eligible for merit scholarships, which can help reduce the cost of attending SIUC.
