SAT Requirements for ECU
East Carolina University requires all applicants to submit either SAT or ACT scores, though the SAT is preferred for most programs. The university does not impose a strict cutoff score but instead evaluates each applicant's overall academic profile, including SAT/ACT performance, GPA, and extracurricular activities.
While ECU does not set a minimum SAT score, students with scores above 1150-1200 are considered competitive candidates for scholarships and admission to selective programs. The university also accepts ACT scores, with a conversion to SAT scores as follows: ACT 34-36 → SAT 1450-1600, ACT 30-33 → SAT 1300-1420, and ACT 25-30 → SAT 1200-1300. ACT 20-25 → SAT 1050-1200.
